Watchdog sends protocols of case vs Facebook, Twitter to court
MOSCOW, Feb 4 (PRIME) -- The communications service has sent administrative violation protocols by Facebook and Twitter, which failed to provide information on localization of bases with data of Russian users duly, to the Tagansky District Court of Moscow, an authority spokesperson told PRIME on Tuesday.
“The documents were sent and delivered to the Tagansky District Court today,” the spokesperson said.
The communications service opened the case against Facebook and Twitter in late January and can impose a fine of 1–6 million rubles on the U.S. companies.
The authority first asked Facebook and Twitter to report on localization of databases in December 2018. Without any response, the service initiated an administrative case in January 2019 and then a court fined the two companies 3,000 rubles each. The companies had nine months to improve.
